Our History
Mountain City Christian Academy (MCCA) has a legacy of over 50 years in Anchorage, Alaska. Mountain City Christian Academy, previously known as Anchorage Christian Schools (ACS), began its journey in 1972 when Dr. Jerry Prevo and the congregation of Anchorage Baptist Temple envisioned a school that would provide a holistic education rooted in Christian values. In 2023, our ACS rebranded to Mountain City Christian Academy to reflect a renewed commitment to our mission and vision. Over the years, driven by a commitment to academic excellence and character development, the school steadily expanded its programs and facilities. As the student body grew, so did the school’s reputation for developing well-rounded individuals grounded in faith, integrity, and compassion. The campus continued to expand to include a premier basketball gym, weight room, science labs, and a student union, fostering an environment for a more active student life, personal growth, and spiritual development. Through the decades, we have grown into Anchorage’s most diverse private school, offering comprehensive educational programs from preschool through high school. Today, we are proud to provide an accessible, Christ-centered education for families in our community, supported by dedicated faculty, innovative programs, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. MCCA has celebrated numerous achievements, including academic accolades, state basketball titles, music awards, and a strong sense of community engagement. Today, Mountain City Christian Academy stands as a beacon of educational excellence, shaping future leaders equipped with knowledge, character, and a profound sense of purpose.
